The MalDent Project is a collaboration between the University of Malawi College of Medicine and the University of Glasgow. It aims to establish the first Dental School in Malawi and to develop a national Oral Health Strategy. The Global Health Group of the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow is a major partner. Within Malawi, the Dental Association of Malawi and the Medical Council of Malawi are key partners and within Scotland there is involvement of the University of Dundee Centre for Medical Education, Dundee Dental School and NHS Education for Scotland. The project is strongly supported by the Ministry of Health in Malawi and by Scottish Government International Development.
The project began in earnest in September 2017. The photo shows an early meeting in Lilongwe between (L. to R.) Mwapatsa Mipando (University of Malawi College of Medicine), Jeremy Bagg (University of Glasgow) and Ian Nicol (Scottish Government International Development).
